Transformer Tank Manufacturing
Robust Construction · Carbon Steel & Stainless Steel Options · Leak-Proof Design
The transformer tank is the protective enclosure that houses the core and winding assembly while containing the insulating oil. At Datsan, we manufacture tanks from high-quality carbon steel as standard, with stainless steel options (304 and 316L grades) available for demanding environments such as marine, chemical, or food processing applications. All tanks are designed for mechanical strength, corrosion resistance, and leak-proof integrity in accordance with IEC 60076 and customer specifications.
Tank Material Options
Carbon Steel (Standard)
High-strength structural steel (S235JR / S355JR) with excellent weldability and mechanical properties.
Application: Standard distribution and power transformers, industrial installations.
Stainless Steel 304
Austenitic chromium-nickel alloy. Excellent corrosion resistance in moderate environments.
Application: Food industry, coastal areas, chemical plants, hygienic applications.
Stainless Steel 316L
Molybdenum-alloyed grade with superior resistance to chlorides, acids, and aggressive environments.
Application: Marine environments, offshore platforms, chemical/petrochemical, high-corrosion zones.
Tank Manufacturing Process
Cutting & Forming
CNC plasma / laser cutting, plate bending, and forming of tank walls and covers.
Welding & Assembly
MIG/TIG welding by certified welders; full penetration joints for leak-proof construction.
Leak Testing
100% leakage test via pressurized air (0.3–0.5 bar) or helium leak detection for critical applications.
Surface Treatment
Shot blasting → chemical cleaning → painting (3-coat system) per ISO 12944.

Design Features
Corrugated Tank
Integrated corrugated walls for oil expansion and enhanced heat dissipation. Eliminates need for external radiators in many applications.
Radiator Type
Removable or welded radiators for higher power ratings. Designed for optimal oil circulation and cooling efficiency.
Accessories Integration
Precision-machined flanges, bushings, and mounting points for bushings, tap changers, thermometers, and other accessories.
Note: Stainless steel tanks (304 / 316L) are available for special applications requiring enhanced corrosion resistance. These tanks typically do not require external painting, providing long-term maintenance benefits in aggressive environments. Custom tank designs, sizes, and material combinations can be engineered to meet specific project requirements.
